The Lanka Premier League (LPL) is a popular Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament held in Sri Lanka.
The fourth edition of the LPL is set to be held from 30 July to 20 August 2023, with five teams competing at three international venues.
The tournament is organized by Sri Lanka Cricket, and the defending champions are the Jaffna Kings.
Originally launched in 2020, the LPL replaced the discontinued Sri Lanka Premier League.
The inaugural edition was a massive success, attracting a cumulative audience of 557 million across TV, digital-social media, and traditional media. The LPL has become a platform for some of the biggest names in world cricket, including stars like Chris Gayle, Lasith Malinga, AB de Villiers, and David Warner.
It has not only entertained cricket fans but also helped promote Sri Lankan cricket by providing opportunities to young players who later represented the national team.
The 2023 edition of the LPL is expected to be even more successful, with several high-profile players already signed up.
The Sri Lanka Cricket is confident that the tournament will further boost the promotion of Sri Lankan cricket.
