South Africa:
South Africa is ready to write another chapter of World Cup heartbreak. Eight of the 15 players of the squad have received their maiden World Cup call, including captain Bavuma.

India announced its strong World Cup squad yesterday; KL Rahul, who was training at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru after injuring his thigh earlier this year, has made his place. He has cleared fitness tests and has joined his team for the Asia Cup.
Regarding omissions, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, and Prasidh Krishna failed to make it to the squad. The upcoming tournament is a golden opportunity for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to win a second World Cup title, as possibly, both won’t be appearing in the next edition.
New Zealand:
New Zealand is usually the underdog in Cricket but is known as a specialist in the World Cup. Although the World Cup is of ODI format, this comeback, with the World Cup less than a week away, will surely boost them.
However, the most important news for Kiwis is that their talisman will be a member of the squad which will be announced on September 9. Williamson injured his knee in the IPL and, initially, was said to be out from the World Cup as well. However, he has made significant progress in his recovery and will be able to play in the second game in the mega event.
“Kane has applied phenomenal dedication to his rehabilitation and has been supported by a strong group of experts around him,” head coach Gary Stead said.
“He’s left no stone unturned in trying to get back to playing cricket at the highest level. We are delighted to be in a place to select him.
“At the same time, he’s also kept perspective about his recovery and hasn’t wanted to rush or force his way back too early. As we’ve previously said, it’s great he wants to play cricket for New Zealand in the long term.”

What’s the Format for Cricket World Cup 2023?
The 2023 ODI World Cup will be played in a round-robin format, meaning all ten teams will face every other team in the group stage. The winning team will get two points, while a no-result or a tie would mean one point for each team. At the end of the group stages, the top four teams will progress to the semifinals.
Suppose the semi-finals or the final is tied; a super-over will be played to determine the winner. If the super-over ends in a tie, another super-over will be played to decide the winner.
Regarding reserve day policy, group stage matches will not have any reserve days, as both teams will get 1 point each if the game is washed out or abandoned for any reason. However, the semifinals and the final will have a reserve day.
If no result is possible on the reserve day of the semifinals, the teams in a better position on the table will qualify for the final. If the reserve day of the final is washed out, both finalists will be declared joint winners.
